LORD:  Lord, love, and labor is the correct priority for our Christian motive and life.  We must know Jesus as Lord and not only Savior.  I praise the Lord that Jesus saved me from Hell, forgave me of my sin, gave me the gift of eternal life, and implanted the Holy Spirit in my body to dwell.  The salvation Jesus gave me should generate my submission to HIM to be the Lord of my life, my Master, and my Ruler.  Herein is true liberty and freedom within HIS Lordship (2 Cor. 3:17).  One of the external actions to indicate that Jesus is my Lord is baptism (Romans 6:1-6).

LOVE:  As a result of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit upon salvation, the germination of His fruits begin in my life.  Galatians 5:22 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,…”  Notice the first fruit of the Holy Spirit is love.  1 John 4:8 “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.”  I cannot truly unconditionally love until I know God.  Hence, I cannot reciprocate my love to God until I have received HIS love to me through HIS Son (John 3:16, Romans 5:8).

LABOR:  As the germination (discipleship, growing in grace) process develops in my life, I am deepened in my obedience to Christ.  One act of obedience is laboring for the gospel sake.  Jesus said in  John 14:15  “If ye love me, keep my commandments.”  Followed with James 1:22 “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”

Jesus knew the ranks of Christians would thin out as we get to the labor, so HE said in  Matt. 9:38 “Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.”  Under inspiration of the Spirit of God, the Apostle Paul encourages the laborers when he wrote in 1 Cor. 15:58 “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”

Following this precedent, I too want to encourage our laborers at Bible Baptist Church and all the laborers for Jesus Christ across the world!  Keep on keeping on!  Your labor is not in vain IN THE LORD!  Be sure we keep our motives pure.  Keep Jesus as our Lord and Master over every area in our lives.  Be sure we keep a red-hot passionate love relationship with Jesus, the Word of God, and the Spirit of God!  This will then produce healthy and vibrant laborers for the gospel’s sake!  When we begin to compare ourselves within ourselves or begin to seek for praise from the pastor or a spiritual leader we begin to lose sight of our Lord and motives slowly are tainted.  We begin a downward spiral seeing the injustices of “church people”, possessing an “I’m the only one who cares” attitude, and bitterness sets in the inner chamber of our hearts because it seems as if “nobody cares” that I have worked so hard in a ministry.

Keeping our eyes on the Lord, loving Him with all our hearts, and laboring from that heart of love for the Lord will rid any bitterness out of my heart when injustices are done within the church or between other Christians.  Stay in the Book and stay on your knees.  I praise the Lord for every servant in this church and in every church across the globe who are laboring for the gospel’s sake and laboring for the kingdom of God!
